Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust

We have now reached capacity for sessions at WWT, and we’re unable to offer any additional places on this programme.

However, you can join in organised weekly walks at Steart Marshes every Thursday morning at 10am. These are run by WWT staff and open to all members of the public. There’s no need to sign up or commit, you’re welcome to attend whenever it suits you.

These organised walks are part of the wider Somerset Health Walks initiative, which includes many other walks across the area, led by different providers on various days of the week. If you're interested in exploring other walks near you, we recommend visiting:

If you have any questions about the walks at Steart Marshes specifically, you can get in touch with Jenny McCubbin from WWT:

WWT activities invite you to explore the diverse wonders of Steart Marshes wetlands and discover their rich habitats and wildlife.

You will have the opportunity to engage with the beauty of nature through creativity and mindfulness. Activities include gentle relaxation exercises to help you ‘tune in’ to your surroundings, with key themes including water, mud, birds, trees, and light.

Sessions will explore the finer details of nature through photography and get hands-on with a range of arts and crafts activities including painting, sketching, weaving, and clay model making.

What is the site like?

Steart Marshes is large and well signposted, and most paths are wide, fine-surfaced, and generally flat. Some areas do include gentle slopes, and certain paths may be uneven or slippery when wet.

There may be a chance to walk to a nearby beach, which involves crossing the saltmarsh and a pebble ridge. We recommend sturdy footwear for each visit.

All equipment needed for the activities will be provided. Please wear suitable shoes or boots, and comfortable clothing you don’t mind getting a little muddy.
